Guitar,Instrumental Duet,Soprano voice - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1292872 Composed by Cleo Laine and Stanley Myers. Arranged by Derek Hasted. Contemporary. 18 pages. Derek Hasted #883469. Published by Derek Hasted (A0.1292872). CAVATINA for SOPRANO/MEZZO and GUITARBest suited for Classical or Acoustic Guitar - sometimes it's erroneously listed here as Electric Guitar only.Derek Hasted writes The beautifully melodic Cavatina was made famous by John Williams, who arranged the piece for solo guitar and produced some effortless recordings of it.Cleo Laine then produced a sublime song - He Was BeautifulWhy this arrangement?Iâve lowered the key by one tone which makes many of the chords sound more mellow and it now suits both mezzo and soprano voices - a range of an octave and a note, starting on sharpened Middle C.In the guitar part, Iâve fixed the ungainly jumps in the accompaniment bass line which came as a constraint of playing up the neck on solo guitar and Iâve improved the connectivity of the middle voices from chord to chord so the chord changes sound more effortless and natural.By virtue of the key change and careful use of enharmonic equivalents, the guitar part is now on familiar ground. The guitar part is here in âscore and tabâ and in âscore aloneâ - there is no difference in the music.I also have versions for two guitars and for woodwind and guitar - to find them easily, visit my website (below) and look for my list of guitar duets and woodwind arrangements.I hope you enjoy playing this piece! This is one of a large and growing range of accessible ensembles from experienced arranger Derek Hasted, and is supplied as full score and parts. Derek's website at www.derek-hasted.co.uk/smp lists all his arrangements by title and by number of instruments, with links to soundclips and sample score.

Timothy Stapay #718416. Published by Timothy Stapay (A0.1116761). Till There Was You from the movie The Music Man; as performed by piano artist, Liberace on albums and in concerts around the world. Here is the beautiful and romantic melody; arranged with the same beautiful ornamentation and runs that made him famous. The Music Man is a musical with book, music, and lyrics by Meredith Willson, based on a story by Willson and Franklin Lacey. In 1957, the show became a hit on Broadway, winning five Tony Awards, including Best Musical, and running for 1,375 performances. WÅadziu Valentino Liberace(May 16, 1919 â February 4, 1987) was an American pianist, singer, and actor. A child prodigy born in Wisconsin to parents of Italian and Polish origin, he enjoyed a career spanning four decades of concerts, recordings, television, motion pictures, and endorsements. Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.702053 Composed by Kevin G. Pace (ASCAP), Mary Ann Snowball. Christian,Christmas,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Octavo. 2 pages. Kevin G. Pace #4781177. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.702053). A beautiful Christmas hymn with music by Kevin G. Pace and text by Mary Ann Snowball below:From his sphere of glory, Jesus came alone To the waiting world below, Leaving his own throne. Bethlehem was busy; Jeering crowds were heard. Finally, finding solitude, Peace would be assured. Not in some great palace, Or a country inn, Nor a hall with finery Would his sole birth win. He was the Creator Of the earth so fair, And He could have chosen well Other sites not bare. Christ fulfilled long-standing Prophecy foretold, That He would come quietly, His life to unfold. No great proclamation Uttered from this King Meant, because He suffered much, Empathy Heâd bring. So Heâd know our trials He would have no home. He would travel with the poor, And our sins Heâd own. Blessed to be his children, Asking tenderly For his care throughout our lives, He comes quietly. From his throne of glory still, He comes quietly.

Choral Choir (TTBB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522449 Composed by Jesse Brown Pounds. Arranged by Paul A. Jorg. A Cappella,Christian,Contemporary,Sacred. Octavo. 2 pages. Paul A. Jorg #6141409. Published by Paul A. Jorg (A0.522449). Here is a bit of history from Hymnary, org of the composer, Jesse Brown Pounds, a young lady from a suburb of Cleveland, OH. She was not in good health when she was a child so she was taught at home. She began to write verses for the Cleveland newspapers and religious weeklies when she was fifteen. After an editor of a collection of her verses noted that some of them would be well suited for church or Sunday School hymns, J. H. Fillmore wrote to her asking her to write some hymns for a book he was publishing. She then regularly wrote hymns for Fillmore Brothers. She married Rev. John E. Pounds, a pastor of the Central Christian Church in Indianapolis in1896, and one year after marriage, wrote this hymn. The arrangement is for 4 part male harmony (TTBB) a cappella. .

Brass Ensemble Horn,Trombone,Trumpet,Tuba - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.802559 Composed by Stanley Myers. Arranged by Derek Broadbent & Peet du Toit. Contemporary. Score and parts. 12 pages. Peet du Toit #5791193. Published by Peet du Toit (A0.802559). Cavatina is a 1970 classical guitar piece by British composer Stanley Myers written for the film The Walking Stick (1970), and popularised as the theme from The Deer Hunter some eight years later. As the Italian diminutive of cavata, cavatina is a musical term frequently applied to any simple, melodious air.The piece had been recorded by classical guitarist John Williams, long before the film that made it famous. Cleo Laine wrote lyrics and recorded the song as He Was Beautiful, accompanied by Williams. It has been recorded since by many guitarists, such as Leona Boyd, Angel Romero, Norbert Kraft.Derek Broadbent's arrangements caught my soul when I was playing the flügelhorn solo in a brass band, so I decided to transcribe it for a brass quintet, having less players around but still being able to celebrate this wonderful composition and arrangement.

Snowball.Text:Â What could a man see if he was born blind?Would there be pictures alive in his mind?In days of Jesus, and through his great power,He brought clear sight in a manâs anxious hour. After anointing each eye with mixed clay,Soon darkened sight would be cured in Godâs way.Washing with water his eyesight was clear,Viewing this miracle with Jesus near. What could a man choose when he sees the sun?Would he claim truth if Godâs sure light he shunned? Some souls are blinded when in heavenâs light;Others see marvels in darkness of night.Choosing to see and believe in Godâs love,Witnessing wonders and grace from up above,Brings daily miracles through stunning sight. If one is blind, he may access new light. When one is blind, he may witness Godâs light.

Piano Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1314290 By PIano - Sebastian Kurz. By Geraldine (Denny) Green. 21st Century,Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Score. 27 pages. Geraldine (Denny) Green at Oakmountmusic #903031. Published by Geraldine (Denny) Green at Oakmountmusic (A0.1314290). Written in 2008, Miscellany, 7 short movements for solo piano, was Commissioned by conductor/pianist Anthony Davie.Duration: approx 15 minutes in total.Inspired by friends, family and general life experiences, this set of short pieces encompasses a range of moods; from Romantic and melodic to comical and dissonant.Movement 1. Didi â Didi was a very unique and special friend for many years. She gave out great spiritual strength and insight into this very confusing world in which we all live. She was a real tower of quiet, gentle strength.Movement 2. Brew! â This movement was inspired directly by the Brewing Industry. It strives to depict the hustle and bustle of a busy, working brewery and the the many hilarious, fabulous people I met during my three years in the beer-making industry.Movement 3 â Convent Cherub â This little piece began life as the opening title music of a film score I worked on while at college. The film itself, entitled My Brother Rob, was made by Alison Hilder, a student director at the Harrow School of Film. The story told of a young boy traumatised by a convent boarding school up-bringing. I have felt for many years that this little main theme has needed an alternative home, as much film music is never played again.Movement 4 â Megan â This movement comes directly from my wonderful and beautiful daughter, who was 5 years old at the time of the writing of this piece. It seeks to express her wild vibrance, eternal cheekiness, infinite energy, sparkle and the utter fearlessness of youth.Movement 5 â Edward â This music is for my gorgeous little son, who has Downâs Syndrome, and was only 3 at the time of the writing of this piece. The opening came to me moments after the doctor had confirmed Edward had Downâs, when he was only 6 hours old. The music tries to convey the fear of the unknown, huge unconditional love and moments of uncertainty alternated by washes of strength. And yet, all through the fear the resolve to forever love and stay strong always wins.Movement 6 â Indifference â The opening 4 notes are the core of this movement, and the piece is built around and from them. This music is an observation of deep, rumbling frustration at the indifference growing in our fast moving, modern society.Movement 7 â âWee Usâ â This movement expresses family triumph, the gifts of life and love, and the glory of boundless, wild, youthful energy. This tune has not yet run its course. It will be back!

The hymn has its origins in a song fragment collected by Niles on July 16, 1933.While in the town of Murphy in Appalachian North Carolina, Niles attended a fundraising meeting held by evangelicals who had been ordered out of town by the police. In his unpublished autobiography, he wrote of hearing the song:A girl had stepped out to the edge of the little platform attached to the automobile. She began to sing. Her clothes were unbelievably dirty and ragged, and she too was unwashed. Her ash-blond hair hung down in long skeins.... But, best of all, she was beautiful, and in her untutored way, she could sing. She smiled as she sang, smiled rather sadly, and sang only a single line of a song. The girl, named Annie Morgan, repeated the fragment seven times in exchange for a quarter per performance, and Niles left with three lines of verse, a garbled fragment of melodic material-and a magnificent idea. (In various accounts of this story, Niles hears between one and three lines of the song.) Based on this fragment, Niles composed the version of I Wonder as I Wander that is known today, extending the melody to four lines and the lyrics to three stanzas. His composition was completed on October 4, 1933. Niles first performed the song on December 19, 1933, at the John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown, North Carolina. It was originally published in Songs of the Hill Folk in 1934.This arrangement of I Wonder As I Wander is a five-part string ensemble, revised 12.12.17. It was arranged specifically for the 2017 Chamber Music Contest on www.SheetMusicPlus.com. Used by permission.

Gordon Cherry #5769303. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.811160). Elgar composed Salut d'Amour, Op. 12 in 1888 while he was romantically involved with Caroline Alice Roberts (the work is dedicated to her). It's original title was Liebesgruss (Love's Greeting). It wasn't until the present title was used at the suggestion of his publisher that the work took off in popularity. It is one of Elgar's best-known works and has inspired numerous arrangements for widely varying instrumental combinations. Andrew Poirier's lovely arrangement for trombone quartet of advanced performers will make a beautiful addition to your recital.

Small Ensemble Flute,Keyboard,Voice - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1005681 Composed by Grace Joy Reid. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 9 pages. Creating Music Joy #6197023. Published by Creating Music Joy (A0.1005681). My original song, Poe's Christmas Eve Carousel Ride, is a microtonal melody for Celesta and/or Flute/Voice, based on Edgar Allan Poe's Evening Star.I imagined Edgar Allan Poe sitting on one of the carousel horses as it was going around and around. While this was happening, he was looking up at the night sky and thought about how much he liked the evening star better than the moon's light. (The celesta is known for its recognized sound in Tchaikovsky's, The Nutcracker Suite, The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.). I figured out how to put it in a quartal tone key in Finale, thanks to Google. I used quartal tones in the left hand, so it's a blend of a tonal melodic line in an atonal landscape. Edgar Allan Poe had a horrific life. His father abandoned his family when he was young. His mother died when he was a child. After he was adopted, although not legally, he had a falling out with his foster father, who alienated him and didn't let him know that his foster mother was dying. But, he did inform him after she died. Edgar married his cousin, Virginia Clem, who was 13 and he was 26. She died 11 years into their marriage due to tuberculosis. Thus, some writers say that all of his writings have a beautiful woman who died in his stories. He lost all of the women who loved him in his life. When you see his portrait, he has sad eyes, as someone who has suffered much. But, his writing has lived well beyond his lifetime of misery and heartache. My song symbolizes, not only Poe's poem, but his life, as very difficult, yet beautiful. With me poetry has not been a purpose, but a passion. Edgar Allan Poe. Warning: Before purchasing this music, make sure that you know how to use quartal tones in your keyboard.

Woodwind Ensemble Clarinet - Digital Download SKU: A0.813826 Composed by Antonin Dvorak. Arranged by Regis Bookshar. Contemporary,Folk,Romantic Period,Standards. 18 pages. Regis Bookshar #6533907. Published by Regis Bookshar (A0.813826). Largo (from Symphony No. 9 in E minor) (From the New World) (Db) (Clarinet Quintet) - Intermediate - Digital Download. This marvelous arrangement of the Largo, based on the second movement of Antonin Dvorak's Symphony No. 9 in E minor, would be a fabulous addition to any music library and could be performed for concerts, recitals and church services, especially Funerals, but would be appropriate any time during the church year. This arrangement is suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing this selection. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (18 pages). This selection is one of the many arrangements from the The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time.Symphony No. 9 in E minor, Op. 95 (subtitled From the New World and popularly know as the New World Symphony), was composed by Antonin Dvorak in 1893 while he was the director of the National Conservatory of Music of America from 1892 to 1895. It premiered at Carnegie Hall in New York City on December 16, 1893 and has been described as one of the most popular of all symphonies. The second movement of the symphony, upon which this arrangement is based, is marked Largo, and begins with a harmonic progression of chords which is then followed by a solo instrument playing the famous main theme.Dvorak was interested in Native American music and the African-American spirituals he heard in North America. While director of the National Conservatory he encountered an African-American student, Harry T. Burleigh, who sang traditional spirituals to him. Burleigh, later a composer himself, said that Dvorak had absorbed their spirit before writing his own melodies. Dvorak stated:ââââI am convinced that the future music of this country must be founded on what are called Negro melodies. These can be the foundation of a serious and original school of composition to be developed in the United States. These beautiful and varied themes are the product of the soil. They are folk songs of America and your composers must turn to them.He further explained how Native American music influenced his symphony:ââI have not actually used any of these (Native American) melodies. I have simply written original themes embodying the peculiarities of the Indian music, and, using these themes as subjects, have developed them with all the resources of modern rhythms, counterpoint, and orchestral colour. In 1893, a newspaper interview quoted Dvorak as saying, I found that the music of the negroes and of the Indians was practically identical, and that the music of the two races bore a remarkable similarity to the music of Scotland. Most historians agree that Dvorak is referring to the pentatonic scale, which is typical of each of these musical traditions.Dvorak was influenced not only by music he heard, but also by what he had seen, in America. He wrote that he would not have composed his American pieces as he had if he had not seen America. It has been said that Dvorak was inspired by the wide open spaces of America, such as the prairies he may have seen on his trip to Iowa in the summer of 1893. Notices about several performances of the symphony include the phrase wide open spaces about what inspired the symphony and/or about the feelings it conveys to listeners. The theme from the Largo was adapted into the spiritual Goin' Home (often mistakenly considered a folk song or traditional spiritual) by Dvorak's pupil, William Arms Fisher, who wrote the lyrics in 1922. Regis Bookshar thought it would be wonderful if other instrumentalists could have the opportunity to play this beautiful melody, so, in addition to this version for a Clarinet Quintet, he has made quite a few other arrangements of this selection which are readily available for a wide variety of instrumenta.
